Ian Welsch

Ian is a corporate associate focused on equity financings, SAFEs, convertible notes, and M&A transactions. In addition to leading transactions from term sheet through closing, he advises clients on strategic planning, governance matters, and complex equity issues as companies grow and evolve. He also builds detailed capitalization and waterfall models to help clients understand ownership, dilution, and exit outcomes.

Ian believes that service is a core part of an attorney’s role. He prioritizes clear, timely communication and works to ensure clients feel informed and confident as they build and grow their businesses.

Ian has long been passionate about entrepreneurship, briefly running his own handyman business before studying entrepreneurship law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and then earning his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He joined Gillespie Law in 2023.
